Russian Cabinet Backs Kyoto Pact (washingtonpost.com)
Turns out Russia could make billions of dollars every year with the implementation of the treaty by selling emission quota credits to other countries. I had no idea Russia has actually reduced their emissions 25 percent below its 1990 levels - thats huge! That should certainly counter-balance any arguments that might be had about slowing the economy.

Spain Unveils Controversial Gay Marriage Law
Yahoo! News - Spain Unveils Controversial Gay Marriage Law
Saw this on the ether, interesting move happening over there in Spain. Maybe electing Zappataro wasn't so bad afterall.

"I see on the t.v. screens how hard it is."
I just don't know what to do with that comment. First of all I thought he was a President that didn't read the paper, which I thought meant he didn't pay attention to the news at all. Secondly we don't see in the news all the body bags coming home, we haven't seen footage of American soldiers recovering in our hospitals all mamed and disfigured. I recall hearing on the radio the other day that for every one America soldier killed, seven more are injured. That means some 7000+ Americans have been injured and some of those I'm sure are pretty serious.
Bush says he understands how hard it is by what he sees on tv. But Kerry can say he knows how hard it is from actual EXPERIENCE. Since we're in the war already, we need a President who actually understands the meaning of war on a personal level. And thats John Kerry.

But is the World Safer?
Bush likes to remind Americas of his opinion that America is safer with his 'distraction war' in Iraq. But perhaps the real question should be, Is the world safer? I've forgot what it was like to read the news and not read headlines like "Blast Kills 35 Children." Actually, I think I'm starting to become completely desensitized to such headlines; glossing over it as if its an advertisement or other such nuisance.
Kyoto Treaty Still has Life?!
Back in 1997, a dream was coming together to realize a healthy and more stable environment for the future of all mankind. Everything was coming together and some real reforms were actually being made, then 'someone' becomes President and tells everyone to F-off. The Kyoto Treaty was just one of many treaties he backed out of and it seemed this one in particular was totally doomed. Then I read in the paper this mornign that the Russian government is moving towards adopting the treaty and thus making it effective for all the nations that signed on to it.
All I could think was "WOW!" How amazing it would be to actually see something done about our rapidly deteriorating environment. Sure, I don't see anything really happening here in Minnesota, but I've read more than enough stories about the far north and the devastating effects global warming is having up there. But what a slap in the face for the US - but I guess if George W Buttwipe is going to F-off the world, the world can just F-off the US.

The format for the blog is about to change. No more sex - I'm just not the person for that format and I'd rather not go into it. I'm taking the domain over for more of a regualr blog I think. I have another blog out on the web, but too many friends and family know about it now. But nobody knows who the author is on this blog so I can talk away and not fear repercussions. So in the next week or so I'll be deleting everything and starting over - just thought I'd give people a heads up since I still get a few hits every now and then.

Couple of Stories
Last night I went out with Melissa for dinner at our favorite Chinese place, Cleveland Wok in St. Paul - check it out sometime if you haven't. While we were dining, Melissa pauses for a moment to reveal to me the 'one' thing I taught her. I'm sure all the boys will know this, but when you have a straw in a glass of some fluid you can pull some of the fluid out by simply placing a finger over the top of the straw. Sometimes when I get bored I'll do this repetitively, or when I'm drinking root beer floats. Apparently Melissa had never known about this little trick of physics and was quite taken with it - now she does this when bored.
Well now that I have you going to the Wok, you should check out the new store across the street from it, Patina. It reminded me a lot of The Afternoon at the Mall of America, but bigger and perhaps even more fun. I just checked around the store, but this could be my replacement store for gift shopping. Lots of fun things to check out, and if I had some money I would have bought something.

Careers
Work has been putzing along for the last two weeks, its satisfying enough not to bore me into a coma, but at the same time its just not enough intellectually let alone financially. But I’m not going to talk about my finances, its my own damn fault and I don’t deserve sympathy at all, though a little help here and there is greatly appreciated.
I went to school for marketing, I know that’s what I’m good at otherwise I would haven’t studied it in the first place. I’ve recently settled on a statement for my preferred career/career path, “product and/or business development and/or redevelopment in a consumer and/or technology driven company.” When everything is all boiled down, business development is the stuff that gets me going. Back in high school I took part in developing a youth center in my hometown. Putting on a fundraiser was ok, but discussing and writing a business plan, creating a business model and discussing revenue streams can keep me going all night long. And I did mean to make a sexual reference just now, because when I got game, I feel the sexiest. My career statement really came into focus last week when I realized I’m writing a business plan for fun – I’m not even joking. I love this stuff, come up with an idea and figure out how it would work, though figuring out how to make it work is the hard part for me. The business plan would be totally awesome for the Twin Cities, let alone national development, but I don’t have a clue how to do it all let alone get the money. I’m an idea guy, I come up with ideas and tell you how to do it - but I'm lackluster on the follow-through. Partially because I’m dependent on other people for motivation, but also because I haven’t had the exposure to business other people might have. Coming from a blue-collar family, I find it hard to relate and integrate into the white-collar world I’m intelligent enough to be a part of.
So if you’re reading this and you have some advice or insight into starting a small business I would really love to hear it, or just some words of encouragement and motivation would be nice too.
