I have a question about this whole military coup affair taking place in Figi. Why the heck does Figi have a military? And why does the US send $2.5 million in aid for military weapons purchasing?

The US provides aid in many forms, military assistance is usually one of those. It's used to gain influence and provides the US with contacts useful to intelligence gathering around the world. All nations do it - France, Britain and Russia are no different.
As far as Figi having a military that's their right as a sovereign nation. All nations in the world except for Costa Rica and a few micro states like Andorra have a military.
