Run down

  • I don't pretend to understand how tax laws work, but when I hear about Republicans passing a massive tax bill giving $136 billion in tax breaks to companies I get suspicious. And to top it all off they say they're paying for it by closing tax loopholes, shelters and saving money by stopping the illegal export subsidies they had going will only generate $82 billion - still short and not "pay-as-you-go."
  • I got to attend the Kerry rally in Minneapolis last night - it was lots of fun to go see with 25,000 other Minnesotans. It was a great speech, full of hope, mauturity and caring.
  • Our governor is trying to blackmail the Indian Tribes in the state to pay the state or face competition from the major casino companies.
  • Google's shares are rising today after some good news in their first quarterly report. It was up $25 when I last checked and one analyst made the bold price target of $200. Personally I think he got a little too excited, but as long as it doesn't spread we can trust some sanity is left with these types when it comes to managing hype. I like Google and I think they are doing great things, but shit happens - especially with technology.
